Mission Statement
Founded by Nicole Ohara in November 2022, Street Rat Media is a budding independent production company. With an emphasis on hiring and casting marginalized individuals and international artists based in the United States, we are committed to providing opportunities for projects that critique the status quo and unlock critical insights that contribute to our global culture.
Why the name Street Rat ?
Many of us drive through cities looking for shortcuts. We're in a hurry to leave, never to stay, and on the way, a curious place just might catch our eye. "I might stop by," we think before scurrying away. And yet this curious place is waiting for the street rats, bold and brave enough to get lost and stay a while. It may be gritty but the company is always interesting.
Too many stories go unnoticed, neglected, or ignored but they are and have always been right in front of us. It is Street Rat Media’s mission to find these stories and bring them into the spotlight.
NICOLE OHARA
Founder
Nicole Ohara is a Hapa actor, writer, and producer. Professionally trained at the Stella Adler Art of Acting Studio Los Angeles, Nicole is on a mission to build a body of work that guides people on a journey of self-discovery and awareness. After many life-changing experiences interacting with marginalized groups as a mixed-culture kid, a public health researcher, and an artist, Nicole strives to tell stories about people who feel overlooked, lost, and struggle to find meaning in this world. We all hurt, we all love, we all laugh, we all cry. Nicole hopes to create art that bridges understanding and takes us one step closer to healing.
